Southern41 is our residential thermally broken suite and is ideal for most family homes. It is a unique system ensuring a healthy home all year around.
This suite is specifically designed in New Zealand for our conditions and includes the full range of window and door configurations.
When used in conjunction with the right glass, thermally broken joinery will help you achieve a warmer drier home in the winter, and reducing heat in summer, resulting in lower energy bills throughout the year. With changes to the building code requiring better home efficiencies in 2023, this is now the the minimum requirement when it comes to the joinery in your new build (and some renovations - this detail should be specified on your build plans).
HOW DOES A THERMAL JOINERY WORK
By separating the inside and outside surfaces of the frame with a less conductive material, the heat transferred through the frame is significantly reduced. You can see from the below close up of the frame it shows you the thermal break.
WHY THERMAL FRAMES MAKE A DIFFERENCE
In comparison to non-thermal frames, you will see a significant difference in the inside frame temperatures. In the example below, where the outside temperatures on each model are at -1C, there is a noticeable difference inside!
